Nigeria’s Super Eagles stand-in captain, Joseph Yobo is looking forward to repeating his UEFA Europa goal’s scoring form in the Premiership and the two outstanding World Cup qualifying games involving his country.
Yobo told africansportsdigest.com in London Thursday that his form in the UEFA Europa league where his club, Everton slammed AEK Athens of Greece 4-0 is something he has been working on before the beginning of the season.
“We’re not doing very well in the domestic scene at the moment. This is why our performance in the EUFA League is very encouraging, a form we would love to repeat in the League,” the Everton defender said.
Yobo scored a goal in their 4-0 victory over AEK Athens. Other scorers were Sylvain Distin, Steven Pienaar and Jo.
Everton which are second to the last on the current premiership league table will be hosting Blackburn Rovers on Sunday. Last Saturday they recorded their first victory against Wolverhampton 3-1. They have lost three games out of four played so far.
“I know in the last two games we’ve picked up nicely, but we want to keep going in good steam. This Sunday’s game should take us away from the bottom of the table with a win and we want a good win.
“Also I don’t want my country to miss going to the World Cup in Germany, and I am dreaming of continue with this glowing performance even at the national level in our remaining matches.” He added.
