First Victory Raises Kalu Uche’s Hope

Nigerian International, Kalu Uche says his club’s memorable first league match win over the weekend has further strengthened their resolve to push for full contest for the Liga medals.

Uche told africansportsdigest.com Monday that beating Getafe 1-0 on Sunday is a good boost to His Spanish club, Almeria and the players’ morale, who are happy that the lone goal was good enough to give them a win in the match..

“We drew our first home game and lost away, which didn’t really impress us even as a young club in the premier liga. We are in the top league with great expectation,” Uche said.

We do know the quality of players at this level and the big clubs in the mix, but we’re not here to play second fiddle. We deserve to belong in the top league. We just needed to psyche up ourselves with a win which has happened now.”

In the match Getafe strikers made the first attempt at goal, before Uche’s effort which was not successful. d that they will score first so we took over the attack and started searching desperately for goals which did not yield fruits. We ended the first half scoreless, it was therefore great to see Andalucians stepped forward and score the only goal at the beginning of the first half.”

According to Uche the goal made them proud and gives hope of going all out for a trophy in the league despite the intimidating records of the big clubs.

On Wednesday when Almeria visit Atlético Madrid, Uche enthuses that they will play for victory and stand their grounds.
