Nigerian U-21 on History Campaign

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia says his team is ready for the kick off of the FIFA U-20 World Championship starting on Thursday in Egypt.

Siasia whose majority players were selected from the U-17 side that won the FIFA Cadet championship in Korea in 2007 wants to concentrate on the group games stressing that they are focus and will not be in a hurry.

“We’ll take one game at a time, while ensuring that the players are at their best in every game. All the teams here want to win the trophy at stake, this is our target too. But we have to think of our first game here before any other game comes in,” Siasia told africansportsdigest.com.

“I know Africa is yet to win this trophy and we want to make history. It’s a good vision.”

Nigeria is popularly regarded as a team that could likely win the Championship, a credit Siasia is not readily to contest: “My players are in good shape and would face the matches. Predictions are part of football, but we’re bothered about the real game.”

Nigeria will be playing in group B alongside Venezuela, Spain and Tahiti. The Flying Eagles first match is on Friday against Venezuela in Cairo.
