Heartland lone goal scorer, Uche Agbo says he went for Kano Pillars’ jugular because he was upset by their claims that the first leg of the Orange/African Champions League Semi-final victory in Owerri was a fluke.
There was a crowd problem in the match which forced the referee to add eight minutes extra time. Uche, who had worked tirelessly for goals, pounced on the fluffy defending of their hosts to drive home the only goal of the match. With this victory Heartland scale through the Semis with 5-0 goals aggregate. They had whipped Pillars 4-0 last week.
“I knew we were going to win both legs, that’s why I was so confidence and am happy we’ve achieved that. We’re looking up to the final. We have a team with great strength and technically sound. We are now looking forward to knowing our opponents in the final next week,” Uche said.
In the interview with africansportsdigest.com immediately after the match on Saturday, the striker maintained that there are focusing on winning the trophy for Nigeria.
“Our minds are set on lifting this trophy, that’s all. I am ready to be a part of this victory. I want to score in the finals the way I scored in both matches against Kano Pillars,” he added.
Agbo, who has seen many playing days in the local premier league wants to grab a national team shirt one days.
Heartlands will face the winners between T.P. Mazembe of DR Congo and Sudanese giants Al-Hilal. Mazembe won the first leg in Omdurman last week 5-2.
