Agentina this evening at the Abuja National Stadium recorded their first victory at the on-going FIFA U-17 World cup beating Honduras a 1-0 .
Both teams showed enterprise and grandeur in their play, but the Argentines were showing more punching power and tactical discipline.
The pressure was on the Honduras in the first half as most of the play was centred in their half of the field thropughout the first 45 minute. The Honduras relied heavily on counter attacks and fast breaks, but they could not translate such beautiful moves into goals. Though the Argentines were more experienced, their physical approach to the game earned four of the six yellow cards issued by referee Massimo Busacca during the match.
Efforts of both sides to register first half goal was fruitless as the Honduras lads maintained a good defence especially in the last ten minutes of the half leaving the half barren.
The heavy down pour that characterized the second half could not stop the Argentines who opened scoring in the 58th minute through Sergio Araujo who fired home a stray shot thus earning his team their first three points.
