The chairman of the English Premier League, Sir David Richards has commended the Nigeria Premier League for its impressive growth and the giant strides of the board.
He made the commendation at the commissioning and naming of the newly acquired Nigeria Premier League Corporate Headquarters in Abuja.
According to Richards, the league board inaugurated in 2005 was able to achieve the much it did within the short period because of the quality of leadership and the drive to succeed which has placed the league in a good position among other leagues in the world
In his speech, the minister of sports and chairman Nigeria National Sports Commission, Engr. Sani Ndanusa ascribed the success of NPL to handwork, sincerity of purpose and accountability in the leadership of NPL which in the last five years led to Nigerian league being rated the best in Africa and 23rd in the world.
Earlier in his address, Chairman of the NPL, Chief Oyki Jackson Obaseki said the current rating of the Nigerian League is an indication of good leadership, managerial competence, continued support and cooperation of the Nigeria Football Federation, stakeholders and clubs who have proven that club administrators in Nigeria are equal to the task.
The edifice which contains office units, meeting rooms and conference hall which Chief Obaseki described as a landmark achievement in the annals of NPL was christened Dr Mike Adenuga Jnr. House.
