Costa Ricans Take Their Woes to Burkina Faso

After failing to have a good result against their group leaders, Turkey, Costa Rican are planning to go all out to upset African struggling side, Burkina Faso in their last group game on Saturday.

The coach of the South American team, Juan Diego Samuels think they will qualify for the second round by seeing off the Burkinabes.

In an interview with africansportsdigest.com after their game yesterday in Enugu, Samuels said he has no excuse for losing the match stressing that the Turkish side were superiors and his team lost. He said his players were not overwhelmed by the presence of professionals in the Turkish team but that his boys made too many mistakes.

“Several mistakes cost us the match. We were ready for them and put in everything for the match, but there numerous errors which inhibited our game plan, however we have no regret than to throw everything into our last match,” he added.

Burkina Faso with three points are placed third on the table while the Costa Ricans back the rear due to goals difference. They need an outright win to stop the Africans from qualifying alongside, New Zealand and Turkey or with only Turkey.

He also agreed that the game will be different against Burkina Faso in their last Match on Saturday.

The Burkian Faso coach, Rainer Willfeld simply said: “We have improved from the first game to the second game. If my players learn like this from game to game, then I want to stay in the competition so that we can make further (developmental) progress.

“You have seen that we can back ourselves in the defeat against Turkey and I promise that we will try to come back and beat Costa Rica. I think they are at the same level that we are,” He added.
