Karibe Cautions Nigeria Ahead 2010 World Cup

Nigerian may not make the desired impact at the 2010 World Cup unless the team which secured her the qualification is overhauled; this is the humble opinion of a retired Nigerian international, Karibe Ojigwe.

Ojigwe, who is based in Germany and was a part of the u-17 team that won the World Cup in 1993 informed africansportsdigest.com that he admired the way the Eagles used their last breath on that day to book the World Cup ticket, but not comfortable with the team.

“Preparation for the 2010 World Cup should start now and in earnest. Certain changes must be made in the team, if we aspire to make it big at the Mundial, this is an honest opinion.

“And one of such actions should be patching up the team. There are many suspect positions in the team, we have to strengthen. Therefore instead of bickering and quarrels, the job should start now. We have to overhaul the team for productivity. When new bloods are injected to blend on time with the present squad, it would become a terrific team,” he said.

“We need a team that is mobile, agile and can adept to changes at the shortest possible notice. We need a team with speed and innovation; this is the World Cup finals we’re talking about not an exhibition.”
