Music, Fanfare to Usher in CAN Draws

All is set for the draws of the Orange African Nations Cup holding this afternoon at Talatona Convention Centre, Luanda at about 16:00hrs local time.

About 800 people, who include members of the monitoring committee, CAF’s, COCAN’s, national and international journalists besides volunteers are already accredited for the Orange Africa Cup of Nations – Angola 2010.

The solemn ceremony will be live and exciting. The special effects and the pyrotechnics show prepared by Cunha & Vaz Company promises to bring the party great beauty and colour.

Around the “draws’ house” little flags with the names of the organization and with Palanquinha, the mascot of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations – Angola 2010 are allover. Displayed at the hall are the 16 flags of the African countries qualified for the competition, balloons suggesting the nations and ornaments linked to football.

The cultural groups and musicians have been rehearsing preparatory for the event; their stands have been completed at the hall. Filipe Mukenga, Margareth do Rosário and Gabriel Tchiema will showcase Angola’s rich music and Papa Wemba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo music icon will be on hand to thrill the audience.

The Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, the president of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), Joseph Blatter, are among the 350 guests expected to grace the ceremony.
