Ghana Favour early camping in South Africa

The main reason behind Ghana’s desire to camp in South Africa has been traced to the 2010 World Cup and need to have the best acclimatization ahead of both the Orange Nations Cup and the World Cup.

Africansportsdigest.com sources at Accra maintained that the position of the Ghana FA boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi was a collective decision by the Black Stars technical crew and the GFA.

“As we’re talking a team has been sent out to cross check facilities at the venues we have in mind. We want to have an early preparation for the games,” our source stressed.

Nyantakyi also confirmed to africansportsdigest.com in a chat Monday that they want to ensure that the team is taken good care of and preparations done in good time to avoid last minute rush, which could lead to failure.

“We’ll surely camp in a South African city and we prefer any of the cities shortlisted to host the World Cup. We have our reason for thinking this way; we must prepare well and take every aspect of our preparation into consideration.”

Meanwhile in a chat with Cafonline.com the GFA president said that  Nelspruit , the capital of the Mpumalanga province remains the top venue that they are considering for the camping. The city is located in northeastern South Africa and lies about 100-Kilometers West of Mozambique.

Nyantakyi added that although they were yet to confirm the place as their camping site it would be top on their list while other places are still being investigated by those in charge of the arrangement.

Ghana will be playing in an all West African group alongside Cote d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Togo.
