Super Eagles of Nigeria mercurial forward, Ozase Odemwingie says they are not afraid of the holders, Egypt, whom they will meet in their opening game on January 12, 2009.
The Russia born player assured africansportsdigest.com that the Eagles will give Nigeria good representation despite the way they struggle to qualify for the World Cup.
“The Nations Cup will be a good avenue to prepare for the World Cup fiesta. Our team will not disappoint. It’s good for everyone to underrate us at this time. Egypt would be a difficult side to face, but we’re determined to carve out something nice from the Nations Cup,” said Odemwingie.
“I am not judging from the teams in our group, but we’re talking about how focus we’ll be. When we’re ready in January, the issue will not be who are Nigeria’s opponents? The real deal will be Nigeria are in top form and winning matches. This is what concerns me not our strong our opponents are.”
The player opted for early camping at a choice location by the football authorities in Nigeria saying that they can not afford to play a second fiddle this time since they will be focusing on churning out a superb form preparatory to the 2010 World Cup.
