Arrangement to secure a new sponsor for the Nigeria’s Super Eagles has been approved by the executive committee of the Nigeria Football Federations, NFF that is also planning to host the national teams.
In the meeting held Wednesday in Abuja the executive committee noted that the contract with Globacom, the previous sponsors has expired and that directed that a new sponsors be sought for immediately.
A spoke man for the NFF, Obinna Ogba informed africansportsdigest.com that the committee also commended the body for the plans to host the Super Eagles to an appreciation dinner, and the reception for the national U-17 team, Golden Eaglets, scheduled for 28th December and 22nd December, 2009 respectively.
“I know that the executive committee does not want to leave any stone unturned towards giving the Eagles befitting preparations for the Nations Cup and 2010 World Cup, hence we don’t want the team to exist without a capable sponsor,” he added.
“The NFF therefore should mandate its committee saddled with such responsibility to commence work immediately. Our five year contract with Globacom has been ended.”
In the meeting attended by the 16 members, the NFF executive committee overwhelmingly endorsed the amendments to the NFF Statutes as proposed by FIFA, and preparation of Electoral Code for the NFF, which is expected to be presented to the extra-ordinary general assembly holding on Tuesday, 29th December, 2009 at Abuja.
