The possibility of Angola hosting a celebrated Nations Cup is in jeopardy again following logistic problems barely 12 days to the kickoff of the championship.
The officials in charge of ticket sales have just commenced the sales of ticket which was first put on sale Tuesday, December 29.
The tickets for the matches held in host cities Luanda, Lubango, Benguela and Cabinda were supposed to be on sale from December 22 at BPC and BAI banks but confusion reigned when football supporters could not purchase tickets.
“The decision of selling the tickets in the banks was a late decision,” said Luis Nobre, an administrator at Sinfic, a company responsible for the printing and selling of tickets.
“We had to wait for the draw to start to print the tickets, and then we had to take security measures, and to adopt a system to prevent the tickets from illegal reproduction.”
Nobre said tickets for the January 10-30 tournament finally went on sale on Tuesday.
Fans will pay between 250 (2.80 US dollars) and 52.000 kwanzas (584.5 US dollars) for VIP seats.
About 450,000 tickets will be sold which corresponds to 50 percent of the total for tournament matches. Tickets that are still available when the competition starts will be sold at stadiums.
Angola, which only ended its 27-year civil war in 2002, has spent over one billion dollars preparing its country for the football tournament, building new roads and refitting airports as well as stadiums.
