Nigerian club, Gombe United may sack top club officials if they fail to improve on their performance in subsequent league games.
The Gombe state governor, Danjuma Mohammed Goje dropped the bombshell during the final of the Gombe State Unity Cup held at the state capital recently when he addressed the team while urging the management to buckle up or consider their job terminated. The club are sponsored by the state government.
Governor Goje, who has invested much money in reviving sports in the state was emphatic about the government ‘s strict adherence to prudency and attaining set goals stressing that the club will be well funded and the officials and players should reciprocate such gesture.
“We shall provide the finance and other logistics, including the balance of money owed the players and other facilities. But I want the team to be restructured to bring good results and better image to the state.
“I’ve just been informed that the players and officials are owed back log of allowances, this is not too good I will look into the problem with view to settling it soon. We’re aware of other unresolved issues and will ensure that they are put to rest,” Goje assured.
