Doctors to Decide Ghana Keeper’s Fate

Ghanaians are praying for their captain and goalkeeper, Richard Kingson, who has helped the team into Sunday’s final following his visit to the hospital in Luanda.

Africansportsdigest.com found out that the groin injury, the skipper picked up during the quarter-finals match against Angola, which they won 1-0 was getting worst hence the decided to take him to the hospital for proper check up.

The Wigan goalkeeper is very vital to the team for Sunday’s final against Egypt considering his experience and motivational value to the team. Other experienced players like Michael Essien, Stephen Appiah etc are out because of injuries.

Coach Milovan Rajevic, said at the team’s hotel in downtown Luanda: “Richard has had to skip a couple of training sessions because of the injury. And as you saw he was feeling it yesterday, using only his left foot.

“He is in hospital today to have tests and treatment, but I’m hopeful he will be able to play on Sunday.

“He really wanted to play against Nigeria; he wanted to help them with his experience.”

Today the doctors will determine if he is fit for Sunday’s game after risking the injury against Nigeria in the Semin-Final tie with Nigeria.

“I wasn’t entirely fit but I promised the boys I would do anything for them, I sacrificed myself for the guys to help them reach the final,” he said after Thursday’s historic win in the west African derby, which has put Ghana into its first Africa Cup of Nations final for 18 years.
