Flying Eagles’ manager, John Obuh says his team is ready for today’s encounter with their opponents in the African Youth Championship qualifier, Guinea and is not bothered by their arrival politics.
Earlier efforts by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to get the exact arrival date of the Guineans proved abortive as the Guineans opted to play games with their Nigerian counterparts. The hide and seek show forced their Nigerian hosts to start searching everywhere for information on the Guineans reporting date.
Informed sources revealed that the NFF later confirmed from CAF that the Guineans will arrive in Lagos aboard a Moroccan airliner by mid-day on Friday, before proceeding to Abuja on time to have a feel of the National Stadium turf where the match will be held today, Saturday, July 24, 2010.
“I’m not involved with the arrangement; we’re only concentrating on the preparation for the match. We’ve just completed the pre-match meeting this morning with the players. We’ll meet them on the pitch,” Obuh said.
The Guineans are staying at the Agura Hotel while the match officials from Burkina Faso, who have been in Nigeria since Wednesday, are lodging at the NICON Luxury Hotel.
